Our Public Works are well prepared and will make sure our roads are clear. In order for them to do their best, WE ASK THAT ALL VEHICLES BE REMOVED FROM THE STREET before the snowfall.

Additionally, please be advised that in order to have safe passage throughout our town, including students walking to school, Borough Code 13-3.1 states that all residents must clear their sidewalks within 12 hours of daylight. Thank you and be safe.

Information from NOAA’s National Weather Service

A major east coast storm will affect the area this weekend. Important aspects of this storm are as follows:
12 to 14 inches of snow is expected…with lesser amounts near South Toms River . A Winter Storm Watch is now in effect for the entire region for Friday nightinto Sunday for heavy snow. Widespread moderate to major coastal and back bay flooding is expected along RT 166 and flint Rd and SMain St this weekend. A strong onshore flow will persist through three tide cycles. A Coastal Flood Watch is in effect for these areas for late Friday night through Sunday morning. Widespread minor flooding is expected in the low areas of South Toms River. Strong northeast winds gusting between 50 and 60 mph are possible from Friday night into early Sunday morning. Northeast wind gusts in the 25 to 35 mph range are expected further inland.

Hazards and Impacts:
Power outages possible due to heavy snow and/or wind. Widespread coastal flooding with property damage and road closures are expectedespecially Rt 166 Flint Road and South Main Street a the times of high tide on Saturday and Sunday morning. Heavy and wet snow may be difficult to plow and shovel,especially for those with physical ailments. Snowfall totals are expected to cut off sharply closer to the coast given thatsnow is expected to change to rain in those areas. Most likely Snowfall accumulations NOAA’s National Weather Service provides a reasonable estimate of possible Snow Fall.Maximum Snow Forecast for the area is 12 to 14 inches Minimum Snow Forecast for the area is 2 to 4 inches.
